Organist

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Hazelwood, MO is seeking an organist /pianist. Duties include playing organ and piano for the two worship services on the first, third, fourth, (and fifth) Sundays of the month (June through July 19 we will only have one service on Sundays for our summer schedule).

Sunday services consist of a prelude, voluntary, postlude, psalmody, multiple liturgical elements, hymns, and the occasional accompanying of a soloist. There may also be a need to play for our Kid-Friendly Worship Service which occurs between the regular services. Salary to be discussed at interview.

Choir Accompanist

St John UCC,  Collinsville, IL, is seeking a part-time Organist.  Duties include accompaning weekly rehearsals of the Sanctuary Choir Provide piano accompaniment to the Sanctuary Choir during Sunday services each Sunday. Shall be invited to participate in planning meetings and summer choir retreat at a negotiated rate. Work with the Director of Music, in conjunction with the pastor(s), to plan and implement worship services.

Ability to play the piano/keyboard and sight-read. Ability to take direction and work as a team member. Ability to support and encourage members of the choir.

Hourly rate of $15-$25 depending on qualifications. Approximately 6 hours of work: 2 hour choir practice, 1 hour on Sunday mornings, and 3 hours of practice time.    Special Sundays (Easter & Christmas) shall constitute 6 hours of service. The accompanist is also invited to participate in the summer choir camp which is compensated at a negotiated rate.

Choir Director and Handbell Choir Director

Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3600 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, Missouri is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Choir Director and Handbell Choir Director. Gethsemane is a diverse, active, and multi-generational congregation. Duties include conducting the choir at one service each Sunday from September – May. The handbell choir performs less frequently. The choir and handbells also perform at special services throughout the church year, such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. Weekly services are at 8:30 am and 11 am. Choir and handbell rehearsals are scheduled on Monday evenings, September – May.

Preferred candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in music, church music, or equivalent experience in choral conducting and handbells. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of different styles of church music (classical, contemporary, folk, and gospel) and an understanding of the role of music in worship.

Assistant Organist (Choir Accompanist)

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Webster Groves, MO is looking for an assistant organist. Flexible duties include playing for the choirs, the prelude, and other service elements according to your interests. Two children’s choir rehearsals (25 min each) and adult choir (90 min) on Wednesday nights. One Sunday morning service, the children sing bi-weekly, the adults every week September through Pentecost. Summers off except for occasional subbing (paid separately) should you want to.
