Organ Recital: Dennis Bergin

St. Louis concert organist Dennis Bergin will present an organ recital, “MUSIC of PRAYER,” at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, 1230 Big Bend Road, St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.

The church’s splendid 49-rank Quimby pipe organ will be heard in music by Felix Mendelssohn’s “Allegro maestoso e vivace—Fuga” (Sonata in C minor Op. 65, No. 2); J. S. Bach’s Sinfonia to Cantata 29, arr. Marcel Dupré, and Two Organ Chorales, BWV 653 and BWV 658; Jehan Alain’s Litanies; Marcel Dupré’s Gloria (Magnificat VI), Op. 18, No. 15; Herbert Howells’s Psalm-Prelude (Psalm 23:4); César Franck’s Priere, Op. 20; and Julius Reubke’s Sonata on Psalm 94, III. Allegro—Allegro assai.

Dennis Bergin is the Organist of Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church and a nationally acclaimed concert organist, having been awarded First Prize in the 1989 International Organ Performance Competition sponsored by the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was also named First Prize winner in the National Organ Playing Competition sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1978. He was one of five finalists in the International Grand Prix de Chartres Concours d’Orgue in Paris and Chartres, France, in 1984. He was the Principal Organist for the American Kantorei BACH at the SEM Concert Series at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis for sixteen years where he presented most of the major organ works of J. S. Bach in annual public concerts.
