St. Louis concert organist Dennis Bergin will perform an organ recital, “Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs,” at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, 1230 Big Bend Road, Ballwin, Missouri 63021, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.

The church’s splendid 51-rank Quimby pipe organ will be heard in music by J. S. BACH: Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor, BWV 542, and “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland,” BWV 659; PETER HURFORD: Suite “Laudate Dominum”; SETH BINGHAM: Toccata on Olivet Op. 38; HAROLD E. DARKE: Chorale-Fantasia on Darwall’s 148th Op. 20, No. 2; HERBERT HOWELLS: Psalm-Prelude Op. 32, No. 3; and OLIVIER MESSIAEN “Transports de Joie” (L’Ascension), “Joie et Clarte” (Les Corps Glorieux), “Dieu parmi Nous” (La Nativite du Seigneur).

Dennis Bergin is the Organist of Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church and a nationally acclaimed concert organist, having won First Prize in the 1989 International Organ Performance Competition sponsored by the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was also one of five finalists in the International Grand Prix de Chartres Concours d’Orgue in Paris and Chartres, France in 1984. He has performed as an organ soloist throughout the United States. He was the Principal Organist for the American Kantorei BACH at the SEM Concert Series at Concordia Lutheran Seminary St. Louis for sixteen years, where he presented most of the major organ works of J. S. Bach in annual public concerts. He has also been featured as organ soloist, appearing in concert with the St. Louis Symphony.
