The Episcopal Parish of Alton is looking for an assistant organist and choirmaster to serve at our unique and vibrant congregation. The Episcopal Parish of Alton is made up of St Paul’s Episcopal Church at 10 E 3rd St and Trinity Chapel at 1901 State St in Alton, IL.
The Assistant Organist selected for this program will primarily play the new Viscount Cantorum Trio (3 manual) organ at Trinity Chapel. The following duties and responsibilities are expected:
- Work with the Organist/Choirmaster and Rector in selecting music.
- Play the Organ on Sundays at Trinity Chapel’s 8:15 am worship service and other special feast days as they occur or where music is needed.
- Assist with Choir practices and Choir performances at St Paul’s.
- Assist the Organist/Choirmaster with tuning and maintenance.
Qualifications/Skills
- At least two years of organ and choir experience. Years of experience are negotiable.
- Familiarity with Episcopal/Anglican Hymnody preferred, but not required.
Pay: Based on Experience
Benefits: 4 weeks paid time off; Continued Ed Support
Hours per Week: 4-5 hours (will vary depending on the candidate and needs of the Parish)
