S. Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor\, BWV 565\, and Concerto in D Minor(after Vivaldi)\, BWV 596; Marcel Dupre: Prelude and Fugue in B Major\, Op. 7 No. 1; Cesar Franck: Pastorale Op. 19; Olivier Messiaen: “Dieu parminous” (La Nativite du Seigneur); and Dennis Bergin: T. S. Eliot Impressions (2000) I. Journey of the Magi\, and II. A Song for Simeon. \n\n\n\nDennis Bergin is the Organist of Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church and a nationally acclaimed concert organist\, having been awarded First Prize in the1989 International Organ Performance Competition sponsored by the University of Michigan\, Ann Arbor\, Michigan. He was also named First Prizewinner of the National Organ Playing Competition sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Wayne\, Indiana\, in 1978. He was one offive finalists in the International Grand Prix de Chartres Concours d’Orgue in Paris and Chartres\, France\, in 1984. He was the Principal Organistfor the American Kantorei BACH at the SEM Concert Series at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis for sixteen years\, where he presented mostof the major organ works of J. DESCRIPTION:The Concert organist this year is the incomparable Nathan Laube\, Associate Professor of Organ at the Eastman School of Music\, as well as International Consultant in Organ Studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom.  His extensive international recital career takes him continually to major concert venues and festivals around the world.  Known for his brilliant playing\, gracious demeanor\, and creative programming of repertoire spanning five centuries (including his own virtuoso transcriptions of orchestral works)\, Mr. Laube has earned praise from critics and peers alike. \n\n\n\nIf you appreciate the “king of instruments\,” this is a rare opportunity to hear one of the world’s premier organists. \n\n\n\nAn informal reception will be held following the concert to allow attendees the opportunity to greet Mr. Laube and one another.

DESCRIPTION:Part of the Con Spirito Concert Series at The First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. \n\n\n\nThe Gateway Ringers is an auditioned community choir\, comprised of handbell ringers from the St. Louis metropolitan area. Our mission is to inspire excellence in musicianship and heighten awareness of handbell music. The group was formed in the fall of 1995. The Gateway Ringers are members of the Handbell Musicians of America at the Area VIII and national levels. Gateway performs using six octaves of Malmark handbells & six octaves of Malmark Choirchimes®. The Kirkwood Baptist Church graciously provides rehearsal space. The group is organized as a not-for-profit organization\, and auditions are held every two years.

SUMMARY:Choral Evensong
DESCRIPTION:Choral Evensong will be held Sunday\, October 12\, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ladue. This service\, sung by the St. Peter’s Singers\, includes music by John Sheppard\, G. P. da Palestrina\, William Smith\, and John Blow.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA traditional service of scripture\, prayer\, and music\, Evensong has been sung regularly at St. Peter’s for more than 35 years. This year\, St. Peter’s especially invites parishioners and others who have not attended Evensong before to experience this special form of worship.  \n\n\n\nAll are welcome at this service\, and there is ample parking in the lots surrounding the church. A reception follows. \n\n\n\nEvensong or a similar choral service will be sung at St. Peter’s on the second Sunday of the month at 5:00 p.m. through April.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, October 5th\, 2025\, at 3:00 pm \n\n\n\nPart of the Con Spirito Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. \n\n\n\nThe St. Louis Chamber Soloists was founded in 2021 as a 501c3 non-profit by four members of the St. Louis string community. The string orchestra performs without a conductor\, and works collectively and democratically\, which lends itself to dynamic and innovative interpretations of music old and new. Leadership is valued from each individual. Each musician is a leader and contributor; to play\, plan\, and promote the music as a collective. The group performs regularly throughout St.Louis and employs some of the finest local musicians. St. Louis Chamber Soloists concerts include standards of the string orchestra repertoire as well as music by contemporary and under-represented composers.

DESCRIPTION:Mr. Benjamin Kolodziej\, organist\, composer\, and writer\, will present his newest book\, Portraits in American Lutheran Sacred Music\, on Sunday\, September 21\, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Louis. \n\n\n\nThe afternoon begins with a 3:00 p.m. Organ Vespers service (Mr. Kolodziej will serve as organist)\, followed by the book presentation\, starting at 4:15pm. Portraits in American Lutheran Sacred Music (Concordia Publishing House\, 2025) is a groundbreaking collection of biographies and historical records of important church figures\, places\, and instruments that carried the foundation of Lutheran church music. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\n\n\nMr. Kolodziej currently serves as Chapel Organist at Southern Methodist University\, Dallas\, Texas. He is a frequent organist for hymn festivals and organ concerts throughout the United States\, and has performed many times in the UK as well as in Germany\, Austria\, Norway\, Italy\, and Switzerland.
