The Advent hymn “The Advent of Our God” provides the foundation for this afternoon’s Vespers. Presented on the second Sunday of Advent the readings and music give those gathered an opportunity to pause and reflect during the chaotic month of December. Since 2006, the Trombones of the Saint Louis Symphony have taken their finely-honed ensemble skills from the symphonic concert stage to intimate chamber music settings across the United States. The International Trombone Association Journal, in a review of their most recent recording Fleur de Lis cited "an astonishing amount of versatility and virtuosity". Join us for the final event on the 2019-20 Couts Music Series with this celebratory Easter Hymn Festival. In addition to hymns and readings, the festival includes music sung by the choirs of Pilgrim Congregational Church, Second Presbyterian Church, and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
