SAINT LOUIS AGO EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Monday, August 17, 2009

Attendees:

Call to Order: CP called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM

Review of Minutes: Minutes of May 17, 2009 meeting were reviewed. Minutes were approved. (CC motioned to accept, DY seconded; Motion carried by voice vote).

Treasurer.s Report: DY provided balance sheets for the year as of June 20, 2009 and August 14, 2009. He also provided a handout interpreting the balance sheets. The treasurer.s report was approved. (CC motioned to accept, HE seconded; Motion carried by voice vote).

Dean.s Report: CP reported that the 2010 Saint Louis Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) steering committee has been formed by Andrew Peters at Second Presbyterian Church, chair of the event.

CP also extended a big note of appreciation to Norbert Krausz and Christopher Moore at Centenary United Methodist Church for hosting and organizing the Avis Blewitt awards banquet in May, 2009. Ms. Webb was very appreciative of the award and the engaging program.

CP issued a reminder that the nominating committee will begin their work in January and it is not too soon to begin thinking about potential people for the executive committee and the Sub Dean position.

Sub-Dean.s/Program Committee Report: HE Henry Evans, Sub-Dean presented the final 2009-2010 Programs for approval. The Planning Committee has assembled a diverse, exciting and engaging schedule that will surely appeal to both current and prospective members. These include:

September 27, 2009 (Sunday) 4:00 PM . Douglas Cleveland organ recital, co-sponsored with Second Presbyterian Church

October 26, 2009 (Monday) 6:30 PM dinner and 7:30 PM program at The Village Lutheran church, hosted by Judy Berger. The program will be .What Would You Play In church? Performers include: John Cargile, Charles Collins, Heather Martin Cooper, Henry Evans, Brent Johnson, and Max Tenny. The program will feature accessuble music for Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost.

November 15, 2009 (Sunday) 4:00 PM – Zach Hemenway Dedicatory recital of the Quimby organ at Trinity Episcopal church. Jeffery Nall will host the event.

January 4th , 2010 (Monday) 6:30 PM . Epiphany Party . hosted by Bill Wade

January 25, 2010 (Monday) 6:30 PM – .To Twitch or Not To Twitch: Thoughts on Choral Conducting and Meaning It!. Joint meeting with the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, presented by Dr. Jeffrey Carter, Chair of the Music Department at Webster University. Location will be at Grace United Methodist church. Kathleen Bolduan will be the host.

March 1, 2010 (Monday) 6:30 PM . Presentation by organist Lynne Davis at the Saint Louis Cathedral Basilica, hosted by John Romeri. (This master class program is preceded on February 28, 2010 2:30 PM by a recital featuring Ms. Davis.)

March 22, 2010 (Monday) 6:30 PM – .Rebuilding the Organ of Saint John the Divine. will be a lecture and slide presentation by Michael Quimby. The location will be Kirkwood Baptist Church. Tom Pearce will be the host.

April 19, 2010 (Monday) 6:30 PM . Lecture by Clive Driskill-Smith, prominent English organist and sub-organist at Christ Church, Oxford. This will be hosted by Robert Mullgardt at Saint Mark.s Episcopal Church. (This program is preceded by a recital the previous evening, April 18, 2010 4:00 PM at the church.)

May 17, 2010 . Annual dinner and Avis Blewett Award presentation. The location is Westminster Presbyterian, Rick Burk will Host.

HE reported that the 2009-2010 program schedule represents a total cost of $2,075.00

The 2009 . 2010 Program was approved. (DY Motioned and BC seconded; Motion passed by voice vote).

Committee and Special Services Reports:

Auditor Report: No Report

OPUS Newsletter Report: WK reported that the deadline for September issue is 9/1/09 and deadline for the October issue is 10/1/09.
