Silent Movie – The King of Kings

Come see the 1927 epic file King of Kings, directed and produced by Cecil B. DeMille. It depicts the last weeks of Jesus before his crucifixion and stars H. B. Warner in the lead role. This 2-hour film has been selected by the American Film Institute as one of the top 10 Epics of all time. The accompanied score will be performed by Rev. Mark Gifford, Organist of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield, Illinois. He’ll be playing the 72-rank Kilgen/Moller/Reuter organ of Third Baptist Church which includes Tibia pipes that once accompanied silent movies in the nearby St. Louis Theatre, now known as Powell Hall. This event is free and open to the public. Come enjoy a post-Easter break with this wonderful movie in the sanctuary of Third Baptist.
