Internationally acclaimed organist, GAIL ARCHER, will play a recital at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, April 30th at 3:00 pm. The program will consist of music of Buxtehude, Bach, and two women composers, Joan Tower, and Mary Howe. Also included are compositions of three Russian composers, Sergi Slonimsky, Alexander Shaversaschvilli, and Modest Mussorgsky. The selections of the women and Russian composers are from her two forthcoming CD’s. The church is located at 4714 Clifton Ave. in the St. Louis Hills area. There will be a reception in the Parish House following the concert.
Gail Archer is an international concert organist, recording artist, choral conductor, and lecturer. She serves as college organist at Vassar College and director of the music program at Barnard College, Columbia University. Her concert tours take her across the globe and her 2008 series of concerts in New York of the complete works of Oliver Messiaen were recognized in the New York Times as “Best of 2008” of classical music and opera. We are pleased to present Gail Archer for this second recital at St. Mark’s following her first recital at St. Mark’s in 2013.
