Call to Order: Dean Bill Wade called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm.
Review of the Minutes: Minutes of the January 13th meeting were approved with a motion from Andy Peters and seconded by Dawn Riske. It was unanimously approved by the executive committee.
Treasurer’s Report: Excused
Dean’s Report: Scheduled Regional POE’s include: Tri-State Chapter in Fort Collins – June 8-13 and Kansas State in Manhattan, KS will be held July 7-11. A motion was made by Dawn Riske for our chapter to donate $100.00 to each POE. It was approved unanimously.
The nominations slate for new officers and executive committee members include:
Dean – Dawn Riske Sub-Dean – Mark Scholtz
Executive Committee Class of 2017: Mary Beth Wittry, Jeff White, Chuck Wiltsch and Philip Brunswick
Bill informed the committee that revisions of the operating procedures and bylaws are needed.
Sub-Dean Report: Stephen presented the 2014-2015 Program Committee report. The opening program will be an Even Song on September 28 at 5pm. It will be the same day as the organ dedication with a reception following at Kirkwood Presbyterian. October 5th will be a recital by Hans Lightner from Munich with a Master Class on Monday. November will be a fundraising event for 2015 convention.
Registrar’s Report: 158 members with 2 new student registrations. Recommended that the Guild get the POE information to those students. The new National OnCard system was discussed. Registration begins April 2014.
Brent will set up the on-line voting ballots for this year’s voting process. There will be an email sent out to members reminding them to vote. Paper ballots will be available at the April meeting. Those members who do not vote on-line will be sent a ballot in the mail with a stamped and addressed envelope. Brent will check with National on changes to bylaws regarding voting – Section VI; article 2.
OPUS Newsletter: Deadline for the April OPUS is March 15.
Old Business: Andy reported on the Regional Convention: Check the OPUS for list of the artists and presenters confirmed. Transportation Committee is working on issues brought forth by National. The website will be complete soon. There is a question on what might be tax deductible if anything as far as registrations.
Organ Book Committee – Dawn Riske reported for Nanette. The committee is still working on possibilities. The committee has been asked to present a final proposal to the Executive Board in order for them to make a decision to or not to sponsor the project.
Calling Tree – Kathy Bolduan reported that the committee has a plan to organize the calling tree to notify members quickly of information that has a short notification period. They will need 4 people to be part of the calling team.
Avis Blewett Committee – Mark Scholtz and committee members Bob Mulgardt and Horst Buchholz brought forth the committee’s recommendation of Dennis Sparger. Mark Scholtz made a motion to accept the nomination of Dennis Sparger as the Avis Blewett award winner for 2014. The nomination was accepted unanimously. Denis York will create the certificate.
Do we want to offer other awards such as some done in the past: Outstanding Student Award; Distinguished Service Award. A new committee should be set-up to look into the possibilities for other awards.
Bill Wade is doing research on previous questions regarding the OPUS. He has requested information on the cost; income from ads; postage amount; printing costs.
New Business: Rene Zajner brought up the importance of multiple sources of communication. He suggested facebook as a possibility. He has been working with it since last October to research its capabilities and issues as a form of communication. He has created a Facebook page, which is available at: https://www.facebook.com/agostlouis.”He will send Nancy the facebook symbol so she can put something in OPUS stating: Like us on Facebook. He reported it could be a source to post concerts and programs. A motion was made by Wes and seconded by Stephen to appoint Rene as AGO Social Media Administrator. The motion was unanimously accepted.
OnCard possibilities for the 6 variable fields available to us-
- purchase 1 year worth of dinners for a flat fee such as $75.00 with no refunds given.
- A motion was made by Andy and seconded by Dawn to set up a field for 1 year worth of dinners. Motion was unanimously accepted.
- Have a donations field for AGO2015 convention. A motion was make by Wes and seconded by Brent to include a donations field on OnCard. Motion was unanimously accepted.
